The Santonian was the name of the base newspaper on Espiritu Santo during World War II. Not only did it bring news from home to the tens of thousands of personnel stationed on the island, it also contained its fair share of gossip, scuttlebutt and innuendo to keep the troops amused.
We adopted the name as we thought it most appropriate to continue the legacy of the wartime publication for a whole new audience. While we might not quite feature stories of the same ‘nature’ as the wartime edition, we do hope you enjoy some of the reports and stories we dig out of Santo’s incredible past.
We welcome your stories
